SUMMARY OF ROLE

This position is responsible for the direct management oversight and on-schedule, on-budget delivery of assigned projects to ensure 100% internal and external customer satisfaction. Establishes project objectives and procedures, maintains liaison with prime client contacts, and directs and monitors construction and financial activities by providing direction to project engineers, supply chain and logistics coordinators, administrative and finance staff, on-site construction managers, and subcontracted labor and design services. May manage multiple small to medium size projects and associated project delivery staff or may be the primary project manager on a single large project in varying regions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Responsible for complying and monitoring Company safety and quality goals on assigned projects
  • Responsible for insuring 100% customer satisfaction on assigned projects and supporting CSAT surveys as necessary.
  • Responsible for managing the planning, development, design, construction, and closeout process for all assigned projects internally and externally.
  • Responsible for managing the budget and schedule goals of assigned projects, from project inception through project closeout
  • Responsible for managing the Project Development from Project Award through Customer Contract Execution
  • Responsible for developing and reviewing Project Development estimates, schedules, risk management plan and qualifications prior to Customer Contract Execution
  • Through scoping and management of Due Diligence required for necessary Project Development, identify key construction and design components through on-site audits with design and sales teams to ensure adherence to SunPower and Customer project goals.
  • Acquire initial budget, scope and schedule sign off/buy-in from design and procurement
  • Coordinates resource staffing availability with the manager and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals
  • Develop/manage key deliverables from design, procurement, and construction kick-off meeting
  • Monitor final budget, contract review, schedule, and signature acquisition process for all assigned projects
  • Manage schedule and cost lifecycle of assigned projects through project closeout
  • Conduct a client Kick-off meeting
  • Performs regular risk-analysis and cost forecasting and weekly reporting for assigned projects
  • Leverages knowledge of system delivery milestones, lessons learned, and innovations to capture reduced construction costs wherever possible
  • Manage in-house and subcontracted design teams
  • Creates, oversees and tracks all schedule aspects for assigned projects, from pre-approval through project close-out to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Identifies opportunities for and initiates customer change orders, as feasible per contract documents.
  • Responsible for overseeing document management and administration for assigned projects
  • Responsible for management and compliance with internal supplied material demand forecasting and fulfillment.
  • Directs work of one or more assigned Construction Managers on a per-project basis
  • Responsible for Procurement Plan development and execution including scope development, bid solicitation, receipt, and analysis including selection and subcontract negotiation.
  • Responsible for effective oversight of multiple subcontractors, self-performance resources, and temporary leased installation and/or oversight labor
  • Manages subcontracts and subcontractor change management
  • Serves as the primary corporate representative to the customer, permitting agencies, and other project consultants and personnel
  • May evaluate the performance of more junior projects personnel to provide accurate feedback and reporting on the level of performance within the department
  • Manages interconnection approvals, through IA Team and maintains accurate timelines with the utilities.

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements -

  • A minimum of 8 years of design/build (or equivalent) project management experience is required
  • Strong technical, supervisory, and project management skills based on construction industry experience
  • Strong familiarity with construction and electrical codes
  • Proven ability to successfully procure, monitor, and assess subcontracted construction functions such as electrical contractors and commercial roofers
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus
  • Organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MS Project is required

Preferred requirements

  • 4 -Year Engineering or Construction Management degree or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Additional experience with electrical systems and wiring is strongly preferred
