Mathematica is searching for a health researcher to join us in conducting significant studies in health policy. The position will be located at one of the following offices, Princeton, NJ, Washington, DC, Cambridge, MA, Ann Arbor, MI, Chicago, IL, or Oakland, CA. Our staff are currently conducting projects in public health, managed care, quality of care, state health policy, maternal and child health, Medicare, Medicaid, private health insurance markets, mental health, substance abuse, disabilities, and long-term care. Our current work includes studying Medicare payment reform, approaches to transforming health care delivery, effectiveness of disease management programs, quality of care in publicly sponsored insurance programs, expanding health insurance coverage for the uninsured, and chronic disease prevention and health promotion programs.
As a health researcher, you would join our group of over 100 health research professionals, which includes doctoral-level (Ph.D., D.Sc., or Dr.P.H.) and physician researchers in the fields of public health, public policy, behavioral or social sciences, and economics, as well as M.P.H. and other master's-level analysts. Duties of the position:
Help design and conduct research projects that involve multidisciplinary staff in a team-oriented environment
Conduct research that applies rigorous and impartial data collection, analysis, and reporting using quantitative and/or qualitative techniques.
Help develop proposals for new research projects.
Represent the company's expertise through various mechanisms that reach beyond clients, such as publications, conferences, technical communications, and testimony.
Contribute to the growth, expertise, and institutional knowledge of other research staff working in the health and human sciences areas.
Position Requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent in public health, epidemiology, public policy, economics, health services research, social sciences, or other relevant discipline.
Strong foundation in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and a broad understanding of health policy issues.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including an ability to translate research findings for a policy audience.
Ability to work well in teams.
Various federal agencies with whom we contract require that staff successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of working on the project. If you are assigned to such a project, you will be required to obtain the requisite security clearance.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
