There are two main roles for this position:

1. Manage all Oracle database related activities required in the day-to-day operations of the R&D department in the development of products. This includes installing and configuring databases to be used in development and test as well as working closely with product development engineers on database design and tuning.

On ooccasion, work with field consultants and customers on DB related designs and challenges. These duties may include DBMS installation, configuration, performance tuning, problem investigation, design and optimizing implementations.

Duties and Responsibilities
Perform tier 3 level production support of customer databases to troubleshoot issues and help customers ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems.
Provide guidance to development team on all database related matters including, but not limited to, SQL tuning and DB design.
Design, development and administration of Oracle databases.
Performance monitoring and tuning of Oracle databases working closely with performance engineers.
Installation and maintenance of database servers.
Provisioning of (database) development and testing environments.
Writing ad-hoc queries based on schema knowledge for various reporting requirements. Writing / Tuning data ingestion procedures from external suppliers and partners using PL/SQL, sql loader, 3rd party tools e.g. Toad, SQL Developer, etc...

BA/BS degree in Business, Computer Science, MIS or a related field.
8+ years DBA experience using Oracle.
In-depth knowledge of Oracle 10g/11g with production support experience in a multi-project environment.
In-depth knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL including tuning.
Experience with Unix/Linux in a multi-domain environment including basic commands and shell scripting.
Backup and recovery using RMAN, traditional and datapump Export/Import.
Proficiency in SQL Loader.
Oracle performance and tuning skills including server configuration and tracing facilities.
Working knowledge in Oracle Enterprise Manager, RAC, Data Guard, and ASM.
Good working knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools.
Experience of working with multiple projects/tasks and the ability to prioritize on the fly.
Experience of supporting multiple teams within a business.
SQL Server and MySQL experience is a plus.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
