Job Description:
The systems technologist will be a technology leader driving technical solutions for our business partners. Additional areas of responsibilities include process development and documentation, participation in developing technical roadmaps and documentation of the same, mentoring operations staff, engineering support functions for implemented solutions and evaluation of new technology.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the systems technologist will include, but not limited to, the following areas:
Design and coordinate large and complex projects
Develop deployment scripts and monitoring tools, to help the Operations team better support our environments
Work with other team members in Operations to plan the deployment of software releases and continuously improve the infrastructure configuration processes
Act as lead engineer on projects touching multiple disciplines within the Infrastructure team
Act as final escalation point for all technology in the DJ Print environment
Help develop and adhere to Corporate wide technology standards
Analyze data and recommend solutions to ensure future capacity needs are met
Assist in establishment and implementation of configuration management program and policies
Provide design and application recommendations and solutions to the Business and Application teams
Create and maintain programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution
Provide technical subject matter expertise for key Microsoft and Linux operating systems environments
Management and documentation of system configurations
Responsible for the selection of hardware and software components and the creation of Bill of Material templates for Global Engineering Services
Candidate Profile:
Must have expert level understanding in Linux and AIX Operating Systems.
Must have a general understanding of DNS services, load-balancers, routing, firewalls, etc.
Proficient with creating and managing virtual servers in a VMWare environment
Experience with Amazon Web Services and cloud technologies
Must be self-motivated, eager to learn and willing to take direction
Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
Works well individually or in a group setting
Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
Ability to translate unique requests into technical solutions
Successfully presents technical information
Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate new concepts, and drive change in process and behaviors
Education and Training:
Bachelor's degree in technical field
10 years of Information Technology experience
5
years engineering and architecting technical solutions
4
years experience supporting enterprise class applications in production environments
