com/working-with-usAssociate Director/Director Translational Pathology and Immunohistochemistry, Translational Sciences and Diagnostics, Translational MedicineThe Translational Pathology and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Group is seeking an Associate Director or Director with extensive training in tissue morphology and expertise in the use of monoplex and multiplex IHC and other tissue biomarker assays to address translational research questions in human disease.
The Translational Pathology group is part of the broader Translational Sciences and Diagnostics team within the Translational Medicine organization and consists of a team of pathologists and scientists who integrate tissue-based data into clinical insights that enable the delivery of therapies to the patients most likely to benefit from them.
The Associate Director will work closely with other members of this team and with partners within diagnostic sciences, digital pathology and drug discovery and development teams to ensure that strategies for the treatment and cure of disease are based on accurate analysis of pathogenetic mechanisms.
The successful candidate will be skilled in the integration of tissue biomarker data with data from other sources (e.
g.
molecular genetic data, flow cytometry, proteomic data, clinical data, etc.
) and will contribute to the assessment and implementation of novel analytic approaches involving digital image analysis, machine learning and other emerging technologies critical to the continued scientific leadership of BMS.
The successful candidate will also provide pathology subject matter expertise to clinical trial teams spanning early to late-stage development, and will have opportunities to engage with key academic partners on BMS supported research studies.
QualificationsMD, or foreign equivalent, and board certification in anatomic pathology In addition to an MD, an advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Biological Sciences or related Biomedical fields is preferred, as is a clear demonstration of high-quality scholarly productivity in a relevant field of biomedical researchA minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience for Associate Director candidates and 8 years of relevant experience for Director candidatesPrior experience in an industry setting is desirableExperience in monoplex and multiplex IHC (brightfield and fluorescence-based) assay interpretation in tissuesPrior experience working in the fields of oncology and/or immuno-oncology is desirablePrior experience working in a regulated laboratory setting (CAP/CLIA or GxP) is highly desirableExperience with lab information management system implementation and validation is a plusExperience with digital image analysis (HALO, ImageJ, Visiopharm, Inform, etc.
) of whole-slide histologic and immunohistochemical sections is highly desirableSelf-motivated and eager to learn new skills and technologiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly communicate scientific objectives and project results are required.
