The Lawrenceville School seeks enthusiastic, energetic, collegial individuals who want to work with both adults and students in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting.
In-Person Prefect position requires full time work during the 3-week duration of the program.
The in-person prefest is asked to live in a dorm and be accessible for work 24/7 during the program.
The Summer Scholars program runs from Sunday, July 9, 2023 to Friday, July 28, 2023.
All prefects must attend the one four-hour orientation on July 8, 2023 and be present on move-in day (July 9, 2023) from 12:
30pm-4:
00pm.
Prefects must be rising seniors or recent graduates of The Lawrenceville School and your responsibilities include helping to manage House life and community, supervising during meals, providing support during study hall and house check-in times, facilitating afternoon activities, and assisting during House Cup activities.
You will be expected to help create, plan and execute daily activities, manage carpool, assist with classroom/dorm setup and other camp needs.
Crucially important to the student experience, prefects are expected to be the fun but responsible adult in a room full of younger students.
The Prefects work together with the Director of Students and the Heads of House to provide support, guidance, and supervision to the students enrolled in the program.
Responsibilities:
Instruct residential life curriculum through afternoon programs Set high standards and lead by example Earn and maintain the respect of students and staff Provide support and guidance to students Monitor and correct student behavior during activities, lunch, and study hall Supervise students during activities, lunch, and study hall Collaborate with Dean of Students and Dean of Activities to facilitate activities Collaborate with Dean of Faculty and Academics to create Harkness moves of the day Sit in on classes to mentor and monitor students Help troubleshoot technology Assist teachers or assistant teachers as needed Assist with the advisory program
Qualifications:
A desire to serve students and to participate fully in an engaging academic community Strong time management skills and be able to complete tasks and meet deadlines Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to use clear, concise and grammatically correct written and oral language in all professional interactions with students, their families, peers, the leadership team and the larger community Tolerance for ambiguity and flexibility Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Able to remain calm in emergency situations CPR and first aid certification preferred Previous experience supervising children and young adults, preferably in a school or camp environment.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
babysitting, peer tutoring, serving as the captain of a sports team, camp counselor (at School Camp or elsewhere), prefect (especially in a Lower house at Lawrenceville) Prior residential supervision experience of children and/or young adults preferred.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
