The In-Person Day Teacher position requires full time work during the 3-week duration of the program, from 8:
00AM-4:
30PM.
The Summer Scholars program runs from Sunday, July 9, 2023 to Friday, July 28, 2023.
All faculty must attend the one four-hour orientation on July 8, 2023 and be present on move-in day (July 9, 2023) from 12:
30pm-4:
00pm.
Successful applicants for this position will be experienced teachers committed to designing dynamic, student-centered classes that go beyond textbooks.
We are seeking professionals interested in growing as educators by setting goals, collaborating with peers, observing classes, and receiving actionable feedback.
The Summer Scholars program is designed to mimic, in every way, boarding school life.
The goal of the program is to have students leave the program feeling known.
Many of the students hope to come to Lawrenceville and therefore, faculty should apply the Harkness Teaching Method, the primary pedagogical method used at The Lawrenceville School and in its Summer Scholars program.
In addition to designing and implementing class curricula, teachers are responsible for ensuring students' safety and medical well-being during class hours and lunch (teachers will receive training in regard to students with life-threatening allergies).
Prior to the start date of the program, teachers will be required to attend one four-hour orientation on July 8, 2023 and be present on move-in day (July 9, 2023) from 12:
30pm-4:
00pm.
In advance of the program (mid June), teachers will be required to submit their 15 day class plans.
During the program, in addition to their teaching responsibilities, teachers will be expected to attend faculty meetings should any arise, attend and supervise during lunch, write end-of-session narrative comments for each student (3-4 sentences per student), and meet with their advisee group during advisory.
The time teachers spend in/on any/all meetings/training sessions, class preparation, grading, comment writing, meeting with students, or communicating with the administrative team is included in the salary.
NOTE:
we are unable to accommodate any faculty who need to take time off for vacations, etc.

Responsibilities:
CLASSROOM RESPONSIBILITIES Implement the curriculum while encouraging students to think creatively, critically, and innovatively Use effective classroom management skills to lead activities and effectively create a fun environment where every student views themself as a vital and critical part of a team Empower students to explore the world around them and solve real-life, practical issues PLANNING Course/curriculum design (to be submitted prior to summer session) Lesson plan preparation (ongoing) ADVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Discuss relevant curriculum topics and current events (advisory curricula will be provided) ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS Feedback reports for students Daily duties
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and teaching certification required, Master's degree preferred Current or former teacher with at least 3-years teaching experience at the secondary level (grades 6 - 12) Experience facilitating collaborative, discussion-based classes (Harkness method preferred) Willingness to focus on the learning process as a crucial component of the class Ability to work effectively with a small, collaborative teaching and support staff Subject matter expertise Knowledge/ability to create a student-centered, project/problem-based learning environment Proven ability to connect with students ages 11-15 Ability to implement Harkness teaching method.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
