Business Operations Manager

The Business Operations Manager, will undertake strategic objectives by overseeing multiple project and program activities within the Commercial Policy team. They will serve as a senior subject matter expert associated with systems, processes and policies related to pricing and operations for the Professional Information Business. They will be responsible for monitoring commercial and operational processes including deal approvals, as well as recommending and executing business process improvements through data analysis, insights, and understanding of operations best practices. In addition, the candidate will be tasked with assisting the ongoing monitoring of the Deal Desk and deal execution. This candidate should demonstrate the ability to devise new programs and commercial strategies that take into consideration the strategic and long-term needs of a complex global business. This role reports to the VP Commercial Policy.
Essential Functions:
Project Management / Operations Identify, develop and deliver operations projects aimed at improving internal processes, data integrity and commercial/financial effectiveness. Recommend process changes and system modifications to streamline and automate business processes. Establish and manage client certification programs with the goal of ensuring client compliance to contractual requirements. Develop relationships with the internal customers by being proactive, display a thorough understanding of their business and provide innovative business solutions. Assist with the migration and implementation of the new contract management system. Own approval rules and associated workflows within the CLM. Work with cross-functional teams to support other related workflows, internal controls and compliance. Strategic Deal Desk Assist in the build out the deal desk structure, including exception deals identification, formalizing approval and contracting processes, as well as advise on the build of the underlying tools to support the processes. Implement productivity improvements so the Deal Desk function scales with the broader business. Coordinate the flow of information across multiple groups, such as Sales, Product, Legal , Finance to facilitate the deal process. Manage and oversee deal desk process, operations, deal validation, pricing and deal controls/guidelines and approvals. Drive price execution based on defined price strategy. Ensure approvals required for non-standard deals have been properly documented, raised to the right approval levels, and resolved. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 5 - 8 years experience in (or mix of) Business/Commercial Operations, Product Management, Sales & Marketing, Contracting, Pricing or Program Management. A demonstrated understanding of commercial practices, pricing, business value drivers, and/or product management. Knowledge of configuration, pricing, and quoting processes/systems, a plus. Excellent communication, planning, problem solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills. Deal making expertise with demonstrated experience understanding and communicating legal, commercial, regulatory, and operational risk. Demonstrated advanced Excel experience to develop, optimize, and streamline complex commercial models. Team player with demonstrated project management skills. Will be asked to keep multiple projects and programs moving simultaneously. Analytical, strategic-thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills as well as the experience to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Operations ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
