Dow Jones is launching a new commerce offering that will live within The Wall Street Journal brand. Powered by our mission to provide the world's most trusted journalism, data and analysis to help people make decisions, this team will be separate from the Journal's newsroom and produce content for our readers on making the best purchasing decisions in their personal and financial lives. The Lead Engineer, WSJ Commerce will work closely with the Head of Product as we plan, estimate, build, and test a new owned and operated property. You will be empowered to architect and guide the delivery of the products needed to launch innovative, scalable and sustainable solutions for Dow Jones's new WSJ Commerce initiative. The ideal candidate knows the importance of staying up to date with new technologies. You're a pro at accomplishing goals through innovation, collaboration and communication--and by diving in to contribute yourself. A successful candidate is curious, highly organized and enjoys working as part of a small, fast-moving team. Responsibilities :
As a strong, full-stack developer, you will work effectively within the Commerce team while also collaborating across additional Dow Jones Teams for project needs. As a strong full-stack developer, you will also be hands-on in the planning process before moving into implementation. Define best practices and standards that lead to broad, positive change. Demonstrate thought leadership in the web application space. As the team grows, you will help mentor other engineers. Qualifications :
Expert knowledge of web application development is mandatory. Cloud development and expertise of stacks such as Node.JS and React are also a must. At least 3 years of experience in a lead or management role. Experience in building robust architectures that serve millions of users daily. Knowledge of how different pieces of a large-scale commerce website come together and ability to drive delivery from a technical perspective. A track record of connecting the dots between what you are building and how it contributes to our goals to achieve KPIs. Very strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with and managing freelancers. Experience in the news and media industry is a plus. DJCI22
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Systems Architecture & Engineering, Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
