Speech and Language Specialist - School & Adult Services

If you enjoy working with individuals of all ages, this position is for you! Eden Autism is seeking a full-time Speech-Language Specialist to join our amazing team!
The Speech-Language Specialist will split their time between Eden locations, to support individuals with autism in both The Eden School and Adult Services. Responsibilities include:
The Eden School (50%)
Evaluate students' speech and language needs. Perform re-evaluations as per district guidelines.
Define and implement objectives for remediation of speech and language deficits for each student through development of short- and long-term goals. Evaluate each student's speech and language program through the use of data collection, standardized and teacher prepared assessment devices.
Complete quarterly progress reports for caseload managed at the Eden School. Develop and maintain updated IEP goals and objectives.
Implement behavior support education programs as defined in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Collaborate with the Clinical Team and classroom Lead Teachers to develop appropriate alternate teaching programs for students.
Manage maladaptive behaviors including tantrums, self-injury, and aggression.
The Adult Program (50%)
Participate in the development of Individualized Support Plans (ISPs) for adult participants.Provide services as outlined in ISPs including individual and group speech and language services; maintain and monitor data collection and troubleshoot if necessary to ensure progress is made.
Enhance communication skills through participants' primary mode including verbal language, sign language, pictures or an augmentative device. Ensure each participant's augmentative communication devices/systems are individualized and updated.
Assist with training staff on how to most effectively integrate speech programs into participants' daily routines. Model effective communication for the staff by using appropriate language during daily interactions and expanding the participant's overall receptive, expressive and pragmatic language skills.
Communication and Meetings:
Attend department meetings with the Director of Speech and Language Services and the Lead Speech Specialist as scheduled. Attend and participate in meetings for school and adult program staff.
Build collaborative relationships with all staff members. Maintain good working rapport with families, colleagues and community members.
Provide progress updates during ISP/IEP meetings and parent conferences with regard to each individual's speech and language goals.
Work with home program personnel in establishing continuity between home and school regarding speech and language programs.
Maintain weekly communication with parents concerning progress and recommendations for home maintenance.
Training
Attend mandatory in-service trainings provided throughout the year. Assist with in-service trainings as required.
Maintain continuing education credits as outlined by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association to maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence, and as outlined by the New Jersey Audiology and Speech Language Pathology Advisory Committee to maintain New Jersey licensure.

Qualifications:
Required Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
Licensed by the State of New Jersey.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with speech and language disorders, preferably with autism
Training and Other Requirements:
Must complete all DDD required trainings
Valid driver's license is required with record in good standing (5 points or less)
Physical Abilities:
Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to work independently, as well as work as a member of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise independent judgment, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.
Skilled in the evaluation and remediation of speech and language disorders.
Ability to understand the needs of the students/adults and their families, in order to enhance the lives of the individuals we serve.
Ability to travel on a daily basis between school and adult program locations (primarily Princeton, West Windsor, Plainsboro and Hamilton).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
